The government has extended the deadline for updating free Aadhaar details until September 14, 2024, as per the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) website.
Aadhaar, a 12-digit unique identity number, is based on biometric and demographic information.
Each Aadhaar number is linked to an individual’s biometrics, thus detecting fake identities and preventing data leaks.
For individuals whose Aadhaar was issued over 10 years ago and has never been updated, the UIDAI advises submitting Proof of Identity and Proof of Address (PoI/PoA) documents to revalidate demographic information. This step aims to enhance service provision and authentication accuracy.
