IndiGo has introduced a new feature to address incidents involving male passengers and female flyers. Now, female passengers have the option to choose their seats next to another female passenger when checking in online.
According to a report by Times of India (TOI), the initiative has been taken to offer female passengers an improved, safer, and more comfortable air travel experience across the routes operated by the airline.
The decision follows recent headlines in the media about incidents involving female passengers. Last year, an alarming incident occurred on an Air India flight, where a male passenger urinated on female travelers. Legal action was taken against the offender.
As per report, the airline has issued an official statement, where it said, āIt is specifically tailored to PNRs (Passenger Name Records) with women travelers ā solo as well as part of family bookings.⦠(this is) currently in pilot mode aligning with our āgirl powerā ethos.ā
When selecting seats, this feature highlights seats already booked by female travelers, particularly those traveling alone, allowing women to choose a seat next to another female for added safety, if they wish.
