Google Wallet, for Android smartphones, was officially launched in India on May 7 (Tuesday). The app is slightly different from other Google Wallet App versions which are available outside of India.
The Indian version is designed to manage digital tickets for travel, movies, events, public transportation passes, gift cards, and more.
However, the company has made it clear that the introduction of Google Wallet won’t have an impact on Google Pay, which is already a well-liked UPI app.
While the Google Wallet app in India will not support payment-related features, it does provide a variety of other features to improve user convenience and organization.
Google Wallet Features Missing in Google Pay
Features that make Google Wallet app different from Google Pay are as follows:
Save Event or Movie Tickets:
Wallet App allows Android users to easily add movie or event tickets, making it more convenient to access them later.
Redeem Gift Cards or Loyalty Rewards:
Through this, users may save and utilize digital versions of their gift and loyalty cards. For this feature, Google has partnered with companies such as Shopper Stop, Dominos, and Flipkart.
Access Boarding Passes:
By the help of this app, travelers may save and access their mobile boarding passes. Users of Google Pixel devices may even take screenshots and select “Add to Google Wallet” to add their boarding pass.

Convert Physical Documents to Digital Format:
Android users can create new passes like airline boarding passes, luggage tags, or parking receipts in the Google Wallet by importing images with barcodes or QR codes.
At the launch of the Google Wallet app, Google said that they have no intention of combining any Google Pay payment functionality with Google Wallet at this time.
This also means that some of the most amazing functions of the Wallet, such as keeping track of your credit cards or using NFC to make payments, won’t work with Google Wallet in India.
