Required Documents for Credit Card Application Process
When applying for a credit card, certain documents are essential to verify your identity, address, and income. These documents allow the card issuer to decide whether you are eligible and can manage credit responsibly. Basically, you will need three types of documents i.e. proof of identity, proof of address, and proof of income.
Proof of Identity: This proves your identity and ensures that your application is genuine. Aadhaar Card (with photo), PAN card, passport, voter ID, and a driver’s license are all commonly acceptable forms of identification. This step also meets the KYC (Know Your Customer) requirement, which banks use to avoid fraud.
Proof of Address: You’ll need to submit documents that show where you live. This can include utility bills like electricity, water, or gas, a registered rent agreement, passport, Aadhaar card, or driving license.
Proof of Income: To determine your financial capacity to repay, you may need to provide proof of your income. Acceptable documents include salary slips from the last three months, bank statements showing income over six months, or Income Tax Returns (ITR). However, if you already have a strong credit score, some issuers might skip the need for income proof.
