Summary

Companies are realising the value of investing in environmental impact; these companies stand to gain from the new generation of investors.

Are you tired of just chasing the latest stock market fads and trends? Well, let me introduce you to a concept that’s been taking the investing world by storm – ESG investing. Now, I know what you’re thinking – “ESG? What’s that all about?” Don’t worry, I am going to break it down for you. Read on.

What is ESG?

ESG stands for Environmental, Social, and Governance. Basically, it’s a way of investing that takes into account not just the financial performance of a company, but also its impact on the environment, its social practices, and its corporate governance. Pretty cool, right?Ā

Think about it this way – you wouldn’t want to invest in a company that’s polluting the air, exploiting its workers, or engaging in shady business practices, would you? That’s where ESG investing comes in. It’s all about aligning your investment portfolio with your values and social responsibility.

Is ESG investing worth it?

Now, I know what you’re thinking – “But won’t that hurt my returns?” Well, my friend, you might be surprised. Studies have shown that ESG-focused investments can perform just as well, if not better, than traditional investments. It’s all about identifying companies that are doing well by doing good. Do check out this study done by NYU Stern School of Business and ā€ŽRockefeller Asset Management for some interesting insights into ESG investing.

For example, take a company like Tata Power. They’re one of the leading renewable energy providers in India, and they’ve been at the forefront of sustainable energy initiatives. Or how about Infosys? They’ve been recognized for their commitment to diversity, gender equality, and ethical business practices. Wouldn’t you want to have some of these companies in your long term portfolio? After all, they are primed to not only perform monetarily but also expected to stand tall on other softer indicators such as talent development.

These are the kinds of companies that are attracting the attention of ESG-conscious investors. And trust me, the demand for this type of investing is likely to grow in the years to come.

So, what are you waiting for? It’s time to start thinking about how you can align your investment portfolio with your values and make a difference in the world. Who knows, you might just end up with some pretty impressive returns too!
