American Express has announced major changes to its American Express Platinum Credit Card, which is effective from October 8, 2024. These changes will include higher renewal fees, new benefits like elite hotel memberships, and discounts on Apple products.

However, as part of these changes, certain benefits such as birthday vouchers and guest access to Centurion Lounges will be discontinued. Let’s understand these upcoming changes in detail.

What’s Going to Change from October 8, 2024?

1. 10% increase in Renewal Fee

The renewal fee for the American Express Platinum Credit Card will rise from Rs. 60,000 to Rs. 66,000 plus taxes.

2. New Benefits on Apple Products

American Express Platinum credit card users can now get instant cashback of up to Rs. 8,000 when shopping for Apple products at Apple stores or online. Additionally, purchases through the Rewards Multiplier on Apple products will earn 5X rewards.

Three elite hotel memberships are being added to the American Express Platinum credit card and they are as follows:

Spending Rs. 20 lakh in a card membership year will earn you vouchers worth up to Rs. 35,000 from Taj Hotels, Reliance Brands (Luxe Gift Card), and Postcard Hotels.

5. OTT Subscriptions and Partner Offers

With the complimentary Times Ace membership, cardholders can furthermore enjoy access to 40+ OTT platforms, including Disney+ Hotstar and Amazon Prime Lite. Hence, additional offers will be available with brands like Ajio Luxe, Uber, Starbucks, and more.

6. Lalit Hotel Perks

American Express Platinum credit card users booking at least two nights at 10 selected Lalit properties will get the third night free, along with a complimentary dinner for two and a spa service.

What’s Being Discontinued?

1. Birthday Month Vouchers

The Rs. 10,000 Taj vouchers previously offered during the cardholder’s birthday month will no longer be available.

2. Centurion Lounge Guest Access

While primary and add-on cardholders of American Express Platinum credit card will still have complimentary access to Centurion Lounges in Delhi and Mumbai, guest visits are being discontinued.
