Railways' UTS Mobile App Updated, Now Book General Coach Tickets Online, Make Payments via UPI, Skip Long Queues at Stations.

Good news for passengers traveling in the general coach of the railways! You no longer need to stand in line at the station to buy a ticket.

The railways have made significant updates to the UTS (Unreserved Ticket System) mobile app.

According to media reports, the distance limit for booking tickets via the UTS mobile app has been removed, allowing passengers to book train tickets from anywhere.

Previously, the limit was 20 km for suburban and 50 km for non-suburban stations, so that one could book tickets only if s/he was within 20/50 km range of the station.

Buying tickets within 100 meters of train and station premises is still restricted though, to avoid misuse of the facility.

Sources have mentioned that booking tickets through the UTS mobile app will promote self-ticketing. It will help reduce long queues and also save paper.

Additionally, passengers can also make payments at ticket counters using a QR code. Payments can be made through popular UPI apps like Paytm, Google Pay, and PhonePe.

Benefits of UTS Mobile App

  • When purchasing tickets via the UTS mobile app and the R wallet, travelers can receive a 3% bonus.
  • A 3% discount on the ticket price will be applied. These discounts will attract more travelers to use the app, improving their overall travel experience.
