Imagine you are going on a vacation with your children and booked flight tickets. But the airline has not allocated seats for kids either with you or your spouse. If this happens, you will be worried for the kids throughout the flight. Right?
Well, not anymore. A new flight seat rule for kids is set to make parents as well as kids happy.
The latest advisory by aviation watchdog DGCA will ensure that your kids are seated either with you or your spouse, and not anywhere else.
In an official statement today (April 23, 2024), the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has asked airlines to ensure that children below the age of 12 years are seated with one of their parents or guardians, according to Money Control.

The DGCA said airlines should ensure that children up to the age of 12 years are allocated seats with at least one of their parents/guardians travelling on the same PNR. The airlines should also maintain a record of arrangements.
The aviation watchdog has issued the new advisory on flight seat rule for kids after coming across several cases of children not seated with their parents.
Meanwhile, the DGCA has also issued new guidelines of unbundling of services and fees by airlines.
Passenger Growth continues
