Citibank Credit Cards To Be Replaced By Axis Bank Cards: What Customers Should Know

All of Citibank’s consumer banking services in India were acquired by Axis Bank as of March 1, 2023. Also, Bank has acquired Citibank India’s consumer operations, including its non-banking finance arm, for Rs 11,603 crore.

Now, Citibank India’s customers, including those with credit cards, home loans, personal loans, and retail banking accounts, will be served by Axis Bank.

This weekend, Axis Bank emailed Citibank credit card customers to inform them that all accounts, including credit cards, will be fully migrated by July 15, 2024. They also assured customers that their Citi-branded cards will continue to work smoothly until they receive their new Axis Bank credit cards within a few months, by the end of the year, following the migration.

According to Axis Bank, here’s an overview of the Citibank credit cards that will be migrated, along with the new terms and conditions, fees and charges, rewards, and other important details.

Migration of Citi to Axis Bank Credit Cards

The newly rebranded credit cards from Axis Bank, which will take the place of the Citi cards, are listed below.

Changes After Migration of Citi to Axis Bank Credit Card

  • Your payment methods will change from Citi to Axis Bank (Citi Mobile App to Axis Bank Mobile Banking App).
  • Points or miles accumulated up to the migration date will be converted to Axis Bank EDGE REWARDS and/or EDGE Miles, depending on your card. The value and benefits of these points will stay the same.

  • Your card number, CVV, annual fees, spend-based fee waiver limits, statement date, and credit limit will not change.
  • Existing mandates and cards saved on merchant websites will remain unchanged.
  • Your new Axis card will take over all outstanding dues and ongoing EMIs seamlessly.
  • EMIs will appear in the monthly statement one month after the last billing date.
  • Late payment charges, cash advance fees, payment bounce fees, and fuel surcharge waivers will be updated.

Reward Point Conversion After Migration

After migration, any unredeemed RPs will be converted to EDGE RPs/ EDGE Miles. While you may notice a change in the number of points, their monetary value will remain the same. After the migration, you can view all your reward points on the Axis EDGE Rewards portal.

Key Milestones for Upcoming Migration of Citi to Axis Bank

Pre Migration Day 1

Keep using your Citi-branded card(s) without interruption, and continue accessing your accounts through Citibank Online and the Citibank Mobile App.

Expect minor service interruptions a few days before the migration. You will receive advance notice with details.

On Migration Day 1

During the migration of your Citi account to Axis Bank, expect limited service interruptions, including access to Citibank Online, the Citibank Mobile App, and cash advances.

You can start enjoying the benefits of the new Axis Bank Credit Card(s) with your existing Citi-branded Credit Card(s).

Post Migration Day 1

The migration of your Citi account to Axis Bank platforms will be completed. Download and register on the Axis Bank Mobile Banking App to view all your Citi accounts. Existing Axis Bank customers can log in to see their migrated accounts.

Continue using your Citi Card seamlessly and enjoy the new benefits of your Axis Bank card.

Redeem your reward points, including previously earned rewards, through the Axis Bank EDGE REWARDS portal.

Second Half (H2) of 2024

Citi Cards will be replaced with new Axis Bank credit cards.
