Changes in HDFC Bank Credit Cards from October 1, 2024
1. Reward Points for Apple Products
HDFC Bank will now allow cardholders to redeem only one Apple product per calendar quarter (April-June, July-September, October-December, January-March) through the SmartBuy platform, from October 1, 2024. This rule is specific to Infinia and Infinia Metal cardholders.
2. Tanishq Vouchers Cap
The redemption of reward points for Tanishq vouchers will also be capped at 50,000 points per calendar quarter, effective from October 1, 2024. This limit also applies only to Infinia and Infinia Metal Cards.
Changes Made in September 2024
Earlier in September, HDFC Bank also made other credit card-related changes. For utility bills, telecom, and cable payments, customers will now be able to earn a maximum of 2,000 reward points per calendar month.
Additionally, for certain credit cards like HDFC Bank Millennia Credit Card, UPI, Swiggy, Paytm, and Bharat cards, the existing capping rules will continue to apply as per the product features. This means the rewards system remains specific to each card type. It offers flexibility for different users based on their cardās features.

Changes in Education Payments and Easy EMI Transactions
Education payments made through third-party apps such as CRED, Cheq, and MobiKwik will no longer earn reward points. However, users can still accumulate points when they pay directly via the educational institutionās website or their POS machines. This change applies only to consumer credit cards, leaving business users unaffected.
Furthermore, Easy EMI transactions on MoneyBack+ and Freedom cards will not earn any reward points. This move indicates a shift in the bankās reward policies for installment-based payments.
Reward Points on General Transactions
For those using Regalia First and Business Regalia First cards, customers will continue to earn 3 reward points for every Rs 150 spent on eligible transactions, allowing them to accumulate rewards on daily purchases. Hence, these changes reflect HDFC Bank’s attempts to tighten its reward point regulations and make sure that consumers use reward points more carefully.
