One of the top banks in India, ICICI Bank, blocked more than 17,000 credit cards on Thursday (April 25, 2024) due to incorrect user information. Media reports quoted an ICICI Bank spokesperson as saying that around 17,000 credit cards issued in the last few days were erroneously mapped to wrong users. The bank has blocked these cards and said it is issuing new credit cards to the affected customers.
The problem was discovered when customers complained on social media about a bug that allowed them to view the data of other users as well, including CVV and complete card details. However, no such fraudulent activity on the bank card has been reported yet with the iMobile Pay app.
iMobile Pay is a digital payment app developed by ICICI Bank. It allows users to make secure and convenient digital transactions, including money transfers, recharges, bill payments, and online shopping.
Users can link their bank accounts, credit cards, and debit cards for convenient transactions. Also, the app comes with various features such as UPI payments, a QR code scanner, and instant fund transfers.
Issues seen on ICICI Bank iMobile Pay App
On Credit Card forum Technofino, several users said they were seeing sensitive data of other credit card users on their iMobile Pay app.Ā
“Several users have reported being able to view other customers’ ICICI Bank credit cards on their iMobile app. Since the full card number, expiry date, and CVV are visible on iMobile, and one can manage international transaction settings, it’s easy for someone to misuse another person’s credit card for international transactions,ā Sumanta Mandal, founder of Technofino posted on X.Ā
“I have access to someone else’s Amazon Pay CC due to a security glitch on the iMobile app. Although OTP restricts domestic transactions, but I can do international transactions using the details from the iMobile app,” one of the users said on the Technofino forum.
