Finance Comic on June 18: Zomato Eyes Paytm!

Zomato is thinking about buying Paytm's business that deals with movie ticketing and events.

If this deal goes through, it would be Zomato's second biggest purchase after they bought Blinkit (formerly known as Grofers) in 2021 for a big sum of money.

Right now, Zomato and Paytm's parent company, One97 Communications Ltd., are in advanced talks about this deal.

The idea is that this move would help Zomato offer more options for people looking to go out, like catching a movie or attending an event.

The deal could value Paytm's ticketing business at around Rs 1,500 crore.

This makes sense for Zomato because they want to cover more areas where consumers spend their money, including food, groceries, and entertainment

By adding movie and event tickets to their services, Zomato can attract more customers.

Even though Paytm doesn’t give out specific numbers for their movie and events business, they made a good amount of money from their overall marketing services last year.

If Paytm sells this part of their business, they can focus more on other areas like travel and cashback deals, which are important for growing their overall sales and merchant base.

No final decision has been made yet, but both companies are seriously considering the deal.
