As India looks to widening network in instant payment sector, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday after talks with Malaysian counterpart announced that work will be done to link UPI with Malaysia's PayNet.

As of now, UPI is now operational in Bhutan, Singapore, the UAE, France, Mauritius, Sri Lanka, and Nepal.

Government and RBI have been taking various initiatives for expanding the global reach of UPI, which is currently available in seven nations.

PM Modi also focussed on migration of Malasyian students to India for AI and other advanced courses.

Emphasis is being laid on scholarships for students and training of government officials. Under the ITEC scholarship, 100 seats will be specially allocated for Malaysians for advanced courses like cyber security and AI.
