Imagine you have a credit card from ICICI Bank, and suddenly you find out that the bank mistakenly sent your card details to someone else.
This means that person received your credit card number, expiry date, and the special code (CVV) on the back of your card.
This mix-up affected around 17,000 new credit cards that ICICI Bank issued recently.
Some people noticed this problem when they used the bank's iMobile Pay app and saw someone else's credit card details instead of their own.
For example, one person found out they could see someone else's Amazon Pay credit card details through the app.
Even though using the card for transactions in India would need an OTP (one-time password), they were worried because they could potentially use the card for international transactions.
To fix this, ICICI Bank blocked the affected cards and is giving new ones to the customers.
They say they haven't heard of anyone misusing these cards yet, but they promise to compensate anyone who faces financial loss because of this mistake.
This mix-up only affected a small percentage (0.1%) of ICICI Bank's credit card customers, but it's still a big deal because it involves people's sensitive financial information.
ICICI Bank is a big private bank in India with thousands of branches, and its iMobile Pay app has millions of users.
They're now working to make sure this kind of mistake doesn't happen again.
